Is it weird for a guy to follow you on insta?

There is this guy that I know of but never talk to. We don't have each others phone numbers and we don't have any mutuals either. I went to a bonfire two days ago and he was there so I talked to him throughout the night and then I checked my insta the next morning and he followed me. I just find it kinda weird bc I don't know how he found me. Any thoughts?

It is weird in a way but understandable in another way.

Mainly in our age group (16-29), I would say that this happens all too often for those that are unfortunate enough to have social media accounts.

The only reason why a male in this age group would follow a girl is because he finds her interesting enough to try to start something with her. It is not because she dresses differently, it is not because her smile is special, it is not because she is 5'7 and it is not because she is from a specific ethnicity. The deep motive for any guy following girls is because by following her, hopes that she may be attracted by him and that this attraction will lead to something else. We all know what that "something else" is of course.

I am fortunate enough not to be on any social media but I cannot help overhearing my coeds complaining about that problem.
