Why is the guy who supposedly likes me, liking my friends' pictures?

This guy asked me out on a date next weekend, and asked me to his friend's party as his plus one. He told me he likes me and told his friends about me etc. We've only been talking for 2 weeks. My friend added him. on instagram and he followed her back. I don't know if he knows she's my friend, but he's been liking all her risqué photos she posts, literally every picture of her, except the one of her and her boyfriend.

Is this bit of a red flag and should I proceed with caution? I'm feeling uncomfortable because he is a 'reformed player' he says. I knew him last year and he was a player back then.

Girl that's sketchy behavior on his part for sure. Liking all your friend's risque pics but not the one with her boyfriend is super suspect. I'd def be cautious moving forward with him. Some things to consider:

- Him liking your friend's pics so publicly after just asking you out is disrespectful to you. Red flag.

- He may still be a "player" if he's checking out other girls already. His behavior isn't matching his words.

- Proceed cautiously and don't get too invested yet. See how he acts on your date and if he seems actually interested in just you.

- Be upfront and tell him his likes made you uncomfortable. Watch his reaction - if he gets defensive that's bad, if he apologizes it's a bit better.

- Don't go to the party with him alone yet if you're getting skeezy vibes. Bring a friend as backup just in case.

Girl trust your gut - if something feels off, it probably is! Don't let him play you, you deserve better than his half-committed player ways. Keep your eyes open and guard your heart a bit for now.

The red flag, is not liking all girls pictures, by saying he is a reformed player. If you don't know each other, why does he need to tell you that. If you do know him and you know he has a long rap sheet of playing girls.

Then I would suggest staying away from him. I would stay away from all players and cheaters. They won't treat you any better.

In terms of liking all girls photos on social media, this could be a situation of something or nothing. For example, when I like a particular girls photo a lot, it doesn't mean I am attracted to her, or I want to get into her pants. I just really like her photos.

Social media, is kind of grey area in terms knowing how people are using and their intentions for using it.

I am came off all social media, because I realised it was cauing too many problems in relationships. I am finding my life is so much easier without it. I don't feel like I am a prison, and having to justify my actions to everyone.

I would not necessarily worry about it yet. You guys haven't even been on your first date yet. And just because you guys go on a date that doesn't mean you guys are going to be compatible for a relationship. So, I would definitely just give it a little bit of time, go on the first date, and then see if you get into a relationship after that. And then on the night he asks you out then discuss with him about that. See what he says. And it's possible that you guys can come down to some mutual understanding or agreement. But I definitely would not trip about it yet. You guys have only been speaking for 2 weeks. And, if I were in his shoes, I would feel that any possibility that I might have for a date or something to work out is going to fizzle and pop like it has for me in the past 2 years of trying to online date. So, until the date occurs and I don't get ghosted, is when I would start putting some seriousness into the situation other than mutual respect in a conversation and getting to know each other. But, I've been ghosted a lot. Even to the point where we have a date, I have a shower, she's on her way supposedly, and she doesn't show. So, I tend not to get too excited until I'm actually sitting in a restaurant with somebody or she's sitting on my couch. So, he could just be thinking that things are going to fizzle and trying to continue what he's doing

You aren't in any sort of relationship yet, so it seems pretty casual at this time.
So what do you expect at this point, he has only asked you out, and you haven't even gone out yet.
What if you bail on him, or get a better offer and cancel the date?
Are you expecting him not to pay attention to anyone else before you even go out?
What if one of you just have a horrible first date and decide that it isn't worth a second date, it happens.
It almost sounds like you feel when someone askes you out they should instantly be monogamous.
If this was your 4th or more date, things are going great, you have been intimate with each other then yes it isn't right that he is doing this.
But you aren't at that point yet.

I’m not loving that your friend added him to her social media. I feel like the culpability is with her on this one. You’re not in a committed relationship with him so at this point boundaries haven’t been established. However, boundaries with your friend should have been well established by this point. That being said if he’s a “reformed player”, weird flex but whatever, you’re going to have to develop a thicker skin to deal him if you intend to move forward. I would just move away though, far away from all of this. Save yourself a lot of time.

When I like girls' pictures, it doesn't really mean anything. I like basically anything that comes across my feed. If he were messaging your friend, that would be a different matter. I would be more cautious about the past player thing than liking anyone's pictures on stupid social media.

Why is your friend following him in the first place?

There are multiple red flags there that will cause a lot of pain. Eventhough you are valuable, he may be moving close to you to get to your friend.
