He looked shocked and went red when I told him (just an older male friend). He then looked me up and down with a surprised look on his face, whilst still bright red.
would a stripper intimidate a guy?

I'd say he got embarrassed.
I used to know a couple strippers and it never bothered me, at all. I saw both of them perform. And, a few years later auditioned for DJ at a strip club. I don't see what the big deal is, it's just a naked girl but, maybe he's a modest guy.
I was in college with one of those 2 strippers and had a minor crush on her but, to this day, I can't even recall what she looked like naked. I recall being about 10' away from the stage and I was just about the only guy there!

He’s a friend, he likely never thought of you sexually, then you tell him this and his brain like anyone else’s shows you naked on stage or giving a lap dance. He then went from not knowing to a graphic image in his mind, that is why he likely blushed.

Well when people say the word stripper.. they immediately think of someone naked dancing on a pole. You just said this person is your friend. And now your friend is thinking of you naked on a pole. If a guy reacts flustered like that what it sounds like - I'd say maybe he wasn't expecting to mentally picture you in a sexual light and you mentioning what you do for a living caused him to do the mental equivalent of a double take - or he had to swat away a random thought before composing himself? Could be sexual, could be shock - it can just be surprising to hear, that's all. Just gotta give a man a second to process - for me it'd be more important to see if he treats you any differently now, etc.

He was caught off guard, once you told him he was definitely picturing it. Even guys like me that are more modest and stay away from strip clubs (not judging just not something I would go to) minds will go there in our minds when you tell them that. He was definitely more embarrassed than intimidated.
