What does it mean if a guy knows he’s upset you and tries to fix thing?

So recently I was supposed to go out with one of my guy mates for lunch, we work together so he thought I meant let’s eat at work when I actually wanted to go out. Anyways, I was waiting outside the office for 10 mins before I realised he was sat in the staff room already eating. I was quite upset cause I was looking forward to it and also because I looked stupid. He felt really bad and kept messaging me saying sorry and then he said ‘I like you too much. I don’t want us to fall out.’ And eventually he actually came and spoke to me at my desk but what I want to know is, do guys actually care when a girl is upset or is this just a cover to seem like they care?

If we (guys) didn't care, we wouldn't try to cover it up and make it seem like we did. he's driving himself crazy right now because he probably wants to date you but doesn't know how if he fucked this simple lunch up so bad that you're questioning him caring for you when he's literally telling you he cares. Do you think that if you try multiple times to apologize for something as innocent as misunderstanding the location of a lunch date that obviously wasn't very well discussed in the first place ( seeing as how he can't read your mind. ) And the other person said something like this to you that youd still care enough to go to them personally and try to work it out? Because as far as im concerned you should have made it clear what you were wanting in the first place. Rather than get upset that he didn't automatically know.

Thank you for that. I actually needed someone to tell me straight and that’s exactly what you did. I know I overreacted, I think I felt stupid cause it was my idea in the first place and it kinda felt like I got rejected even tho I didn’t. But thank you, I’ll speak to him about it and re arrange it.
