Does it mean anything if a guy sends you smileys?

My boss likes to send me smiley faces. It is odd because often guys don't use smiley faces and he is in his early 30s- why do guys use smileys?

Some people like to use them. I don't think it means anything. Maybe he thinks you like them. I send them to people I think would enjoy them.
