Guys, do you generally think being called bud or buddy is condescending?

Even if the tone isn't sarcastic, do you think just being called bud or buddy in conversation, or when your leaving is condescending.

Not at all, I call people that all the time

If your saying to someone younger than you, no, but to someone your age or older, yes for sure

For me, 'bud' is acceptable (mostly towards the younger fellas at work), 'buddy' is only used in a condescending manner.

yes... because they could not stand being proved wrong by someone younger

so they get very upset... and when they know they can't kick your ass either as they wished they could... it just comes out like that "hey buddy"

I have no issue if people call me bud och buddy... what I have issue with is when they used to call me boy.

Not necessarily. I can tell when they are being insincere or condescending.

A bit (I'm 70 and have just a few true buds), but it's a D**N SIGHT better than being addressed as "bro."

It's the tone rather than the label. I've said "bud" sarcastically as well as kindly.
