On social media do you follow guys back or there has to be a reason?

The only guys I follow are family, a sweet old man with Parkinsons who has like 100k following, friends, some of my brothers friends, my hair dresser, Theo von, j Peterson and a gardener.
in my opinion there’s always a reason to follow someone. I have zero need to follow thirst trap pages… you follow someone because you know them or are interested in what they post.
If the person posts half naked photos then yeah people will see that’s what you’re interested in hence why you’re following.

If I rarely talk to the guy and just know him from somewhere, definitely not. There’s no need? Just because someone follows you doesn’t mean you are obligated to follow back.

This guy who I dealt with in the past followed me. We didn't date or be in a relationship but we talked a lot. We fell out and years have passed and I'm wondering if I should follow him back just to be nice. I'm thinking he would take it as I'm possibly interested now.

I find I mostly follow men. It's usually because we have common replies or at least respectful disagreements. I'm not online to find men, I'm in a happy relationship. Doesn't mean I can't be friends with them.
