If a guy teases you about being shy what does it mean?

My guess is he is hoping by teasing you about it that you will open up more. I don't know why else unless he is just being mean and teasing for sport. That would be unfortunate if that's the case. I think it is the first thing I mentioned. If he playfully teases you it might be because he thinks you will come out of that shell of being shy. The thing is that it is hard to change who you are. If you are naturally shy there is nothing wrong with that. Do you like this guy or just curious why he does it?
