How would you interpret this?

If a guy tells you that you deserve to be cared for and that he’s gotta keep people like you around because there aren’t too many like that. That’s the response I got after telling him that he makes me feel so cared for. What does that mean? Am I being friend zoned?

Hmm it's hard to say for sure from just that, but it doesn't really sound like you're being friendzoned to me! It actually sounds like he's into you. Here's why I think that:

- Telling you you "deserve to be cared for" shows he sees positive qualities in you that you should have in a partner.

- Saying he "wants to keep people like you around" makes it seem like he finds you special and valuable, not just a friend.

- That he responded that way after you opened up about feeling cared for by him is a good sign - he's validating those feelings.

- Usually when guys friendzone, they maintain the "just friends" label clearly. This response doesn't do that.

My guess would be he likes you but maybe isn't ready to outright say it yet. Guys can be shy sometimes expressing feelings directly. I'd say keep chatting and flirting like normal, and see if he asks you on a date at some point to test the waters further! Don't lose hope - it sounds positive to me from what you've shared.
