Why did my guy friend send me a shirtless pic?

Hi

So I've been friends with this guy for about a year now, we used to talk a few times a week about random things and he used to reply really fast.

A few months ago i feel like things have changed, he started texting me everyday like in the morning he always sends me a good morning text as soon as i get online but he also started taking more time to reply to my texts.

Then during the day he'll share what he's doing (he never did this before) and he includes pics / selfies.

When he's going to get a haircut he asks for my opinion.

Whenever I mention a friend of mine who happens to be a boy he changes the subject or tries to make him look bad.

And yesterday we were having a conversation about school and in the middle of it he sent me a mirror selfie of him holding his shirt up and said "look at my gym progress". (Our conversation had nothing to do with him going to the gym)

Does he have some type of crush on me or am I crazy?

Sounds like he's definitely wanting your attentions and trying to encourage them toward him.

I'd say maybe he has a crush on you, yes (and no not crazy to think that).

I say maybe rather than definitely as I can't see how he's dealing with other girls and might just be being this way with every girl (which wouldn't suggest a crush so much as being a teen).

Though how are you feeling about all this? Thats the important part, are you liking his new attention and feel that receiving his topless picture is something that excites or interests you? or is it something your nervous over and feel it's not appropriate for a friend to do?

I'd say, think why it matters and respond according to your feelings, but politely / considerately. Setting boundaries is part of any friendship or relationship. Also encouraging what you enjoy / want to continue and playing down / discouraging what you don't or feel hasn't been earned as a right.

In general terms, I'd say, unless this is causing you upset just enjoy the attention and see how you feel you want to respond.

When guys start to behave erratically, that is usually not a good sign.

His feelings towards you may have changed and he does not see you any longer as solely a platonic friend or acquaintance. His testosterone has started talking to him about you and his change in his behavior is an indicator for that.

You have to let him know right away that you will have nothing to do with his change of behavior and that you are not interested in ruining your friendship. As soon as testosterone starts interfering with friendship, this is over and out.

He needs and wants attention from you as well as validation. Otherwise, he would not send you semi nude pictures.
