Guys, what's up with you and fibbing?

Sometimes I get my boyfriend fibbing about something so mundane. For example, last time we talked about proposal, he said he have read some Reddit post on my laptop about it. I was like damn, Im curious as a kid and it was my laptop, so I checked Google my activity (where you can see history even after you deleted it from the usual place) and there was no history of Reddit. Like 2 weeks later I brought it up and asked if he have read any Reddit posts about proposing and he said it was not Reddit but yes. It begins, I thought to myself. I mentioned there were no search history and he said he could have deleted it. I told him nah, no way you even deleted Google my activity and he said he could have, but it could have just happened in incognito. And I was like bro, no way you dont remember, but why lie in such uninportant stuff. Like, the ring is already in the drawer, why lie about where you read the stories or if you read them. I dont get it. If he lied about spending our money Id be like damn you are a shitty person, but this kind of lying is so stupid

I suspect he would rather you get off his case than having to defend not giving you the answer you want to hear. Me though? I have no filter, I am blunt and to the point, irrespective of the consequences!

My way can sometimes cause way more arguments. You sure you would rather that? Most people say they would, but in reality, they really wouldn't!

In this case, there was no right or wrong answer so I dont get why he would lie

He is, based on what you've said up there a compulsive liar, and it poses the question, What else would he lie about? The problem is you don't trust him to ever tell you the truth even when he might be, and without trust, a relationship is merely a facade.
One of two things has to happen. Either stop setting traps for him (even though they might be purely accidental) or leave.

I dont know, really. Because he is brutally honest with most topics. Without filter, it doesn't matter if the other ain't liking the things he says. And with stupid shit he fibs?

Then he doesn't fit the profile of a compulsive liar. Maybe it is something else. What if he is doing it on purpose? Supposing he's fed up of feeling like he is on trial, could it be his way of teaching you a lesson?
