If you’re laughing and joking around with someone you’re close to and they call you daft or “daftie”, would that be considered a term of endearment?
I’ll never understand why people (not specifically you, this is just a generalization for those who do it) think insults like calling their friends bitches or daft are terms of endearment — they’re not. The word daft in itself means foolish, ridiculous, so if someone is laughing in my face and calls me daftie, I’m sorry but I’m not gonna get that little warm, happy feeling inside lol.

In the context of laughing and joking, it is done in a friendly way. It has no malice in its meaning.
If you do something really bad, then it tends to be a term of beratement. In this cas, I do not believe there is malice intended. Just that you have been unwise
It's difficult to say without knowing the context in which it was used and what your relationship is with them, but it could have been intended as a term of endearment.
It can be :). My girlfriend told me that some people called her brave to call her stupid and now I call her brave sometimes but not in a mean way :P
