Protective is a better word to use, and honestly I think it’s kinda normal. He’s watching out for you because he cares about your well being and to make sure no one is messing with you outside of his friend.

I thought it was possessive he said I’m his but he’s not my boyfriend. He wants me to wear certain clothes that he thinks are sexy.
Why do you even talk to this person? He is controlling, not possessive. He doesn’t want anyone to have sex with you before he gets a chance, which to me is disgusting.
