He asked me out but doesn't text me daily?

Hi everyone, so there's this guy that slid into my dms the other day on instagram. We had a long convo and he asked me out as well, and overall we seemed to vibe pretty well. He then texted me a few days later to check in and we talked for a while, and then initiated texting a third time as well a couple days later. I didn't want him to think I wasn't interested, so I decided to initiate a convo with him, and he responded immediately (every time weve texted he responds immediately) but the convo was pretty dry. He still asked me questions and all but I just felt like he didn't want to talk to me so I just left it at that. I'm so used to guys texting me 24/7 when they like me, so I don't know what to think of this. I don't understand why he wouldn't want to text me daily, yet he still seems to like me enough to go ask me out on a date? What is going on?

Hmm that is a bit strange girl, usually when a dude likes you he wants to text all the time! But a few things could be going on here:

- He might be super busy with work/life stuff so can't chat daily. Not everyone is glued to their phone 24/7.

- He could just be more casual about texting and wants to save the convos for your date so you have things to talk about in person. Some guys aren't big texters.

- Maybe the conversation was dying cause he's shy over text? He could be more comfortable flirting face to face.

- Possibly losing a bit of interest if the texting isn't flowing great. But it's still early!

I'd say don't stress yet - see how the date goes! Give him a chance to wow you in person. If the vibes are still off after meeting up then re-evaluate. But maybe he's just old school and wants to get to know you for real on a date before glued-to-the-phone text flirting. Fingers crossed girl! Keep me posted.

update: he canceled our date, said he's fresh out of a relationship/isn't ready for another one because he has some things to work on.

Oh no way, that sucks he canceled the date! Ugh typical guy stuff, am I right? Fresh out of a relationship but still trying to get with other girls... I can see why that would give you a mixed signal. On the one hand, at least he was honest about not being over his ex and needing time instead of wasting your time on a date that wouldn't go anywhere. But still super annoying and it probably leaves you wondering what even was the point of asking you out and talking in the first place.

My advice would be don't totally write this guy off, but definitely cool it for now. He may really need to work on himself if he's freshly single. I'd say don't keep your hopes up for anything serious with him anytime soon. But you could stay loose friends on social media in case down the road he's more available when he's moved on fully. In the meantime though - don't sit around waiting for his messy self! Put yourself back out there dating other guys who are definitely ready for something new. You deserve someone who's 100% about you, not half in the past. Hopefully this dude figures his stuff out so he can treat his next girl better.

If he asked you out, then he's probably interested. Just leave it at that. If you continuously expect every guy to message you every day all day eventually, which seems to be the case for here, someones not going to fit that mold and you are going to be confused. Like right now.
