Aw man that sucks your friend can't come over! Maybe see if he wants to play some multiplayer games online together instead? You could set up an emulator on your computer or use an old Wii and play Smash Bros or something over the internet.
Or ask if there's any other day soon that would work for him to come visit. See if your parents could drive you halfway on the weekend or something.
Otherwise just chilling on FaceTime or a video call could be cool too, even if you're not playing the same games.
Don't stress too much bro, just see what other options there are to still hang. At least you can trade game stories and strategies in the meantime! Hit him up on Discord or something later if you're bored.
No i won't do anything because he always comes up with an excuse in order to not hang out and his house is 2 hours away from mine so not a short drive besides I have my girlfriend to be with which is way more important
Plus I don't have a wii only a gamecube
Aw man, that's rough. Now that I think about it, he does seem to bail kinda last minute a lot. And driving all that way each time would be a hassle, so I don't even know if it's worth trying to reschedule. Two hours each way is a serious commitment! At least I've got other friends around here I can hit up.
And you're totally right - my girlfriend is way more important than any game sesh. We've been spending a lot of time together lately and I'd rather chill with her than sit around disappointed that my friend flaked again. Maybe I'll give her a call instead and see if she wants to go catch a movie or something fun.
Plus I don't even have a Wii to play other stuff - it's GameCube or nothing. And it sounds like it's always gonna be nothing with this friend. Oh well, his loss! I'll find something better to do with my Saturday. On to more positive plans!
I’m speaking as if it was me tho
Yeah but you were speaking for me as well
Right but I didn’t want to confuse either wise with my answer you know to be clear
Yeah but lately he always flakes when I ask if we can hang out
It's not like i'm not allowing him to not come over
Dude that's super wack of him to keep flaking on your plans. Like what kinda friend does that? You seem like a chill guy who just wants to hang and have a good time, and he's making it impossible.
Next time he can't come through, I'd be like "yo man what's the deal? We never link up anymore cuz you're always 'busy'. If you don't actually wanna chill just say so instead of bailing." Maybe some honest communication is needed so you're not left hanging.
And if he keeps coming with excuses after that, then I'd say it's time to find some new friends who aren't flakes. You don't need that negative energy bringing you down! Hit up some other homies, join a club, play some sports - meet people who WANT to kick it for real.
Don't let this clown disrespect your time. Your true friends will always come through for you bro. This fool just ain't worth your energy. Keep it moving and do you, you'll find real ones out there!
I checked Google maps and it takes 2 hours and 3 minutes to get to his house but it seems to take way longer just to get there to his neighborhood lol
Dang, over 2 hours just to drive to his neighborhood? No wonder he's always "flaking" then haha. That's a crazy long drive, I don't blame him for not wanting to make that trek all the time.
But still, it's lame that he keeps saying he'll do it and then bails. That would bug me too after a while. At least be straight with me, you know? Just say you don't really feel like making the 2+ hour drive rather than agreeing and then flaking.
I'd say next time he proposes hanging out, be like "Bro, I know it takes you forever just to get to your neighborhood. We both know you're not actually trying to drive all the way out here. So let's just plan something else we can both do easy, rather than you saying you'll come and then cancelling."
Maybe do something online you can do together instead, like play multiplayer games or chat on the headset while gaming. Or if he's ever around your area for something else, you guys could meet up for a bit. But I wouldn't count on him actually coming all the way out here with how long that drive is! Just be straight with each other instead of him flaking and disappointing you.
Yes that is true he does have steam on pc but I don't use that
He didn't want to play "old" and gc games with me though?
Ah man yeah, playing Steam games together could be an option if you both had good PCs for it. But I get ya, it's just not the same as hanging out in person and playing some classic GC games like Smash Bros or Mario Kart like the good ol' days!
It is kinda lame that he was specifically saying he'd come over to play your GC games and then bailed. Like bro, you brought that up! If the drive is too much, he shouldn't have got your hopes up about doing that.
Maybe he's just lost interest in the older games? Some people get stuck on only newer stuff. Or possibly he just didn't want to admit the drive was too long. Either way, not cool to flake after getting you excited.
I'd try to plan something different you're both into next time, like an online game you both have or just chat on the phone. And if he's ever around your area for whatever reason, you could suggest meeting up for a bit. But wouldn't hold my breath waiting for him to drive out 2+ hours just for GC, ya know?
I own a hp stream 14 laptop?
Ah nice, the HP Stream is a pretty sweet little laptop! Not super powerful for gaming, but it should be able to handle some lighter indie games and older titles just fine.
Maybe you could browse the Steam store or GOG and see what kinds of single player or multiplayer games your laptop could run well. Then you could suggest playing some of those with your friend online instead of him needing to make the long drive. Things like indie platformers, 2D games, less demanding stuff from a few years ago.
You might also see if any of the old GC or Wii games you like have emulators you both could use. Then you guys could play those classics online through an emulator instead of on the original hardware.
Overall don't lose hope on gaming with your buddy! Even if getting together in person is a hassle, there should be some titles you both enjoy that you could do remotely on your laptop and his PC. Just figure out options you guys can do for fun without stressing over the drive. I'm sure you'll find some good ones to keep gaming together despite the distance!
I see but he always refuses to come over and he knows where I live too lol
Dang dude, that's pretty crappy of him! Like it's one thing if he lives far away, but to keep refusing to come to your house when he knows where you live is pretty lame. Especially since it was HIS idea to come game at yours in the first place.
If it was me, I'd probably just be straight up with him like "Bro, why do you keep saying you'll come over to play games and then bailing? You know how long the drive is from your place but you always turn down coming here too. What's the deal?" Like you deserve an explanation if he's gonna keep flaking on plans.
At this point, I wouldn't waste too much more energy trying to get him to come through. As awesome as it would be to have an old school GC sesh, he's clearly not putting in the same effort. When he says he'll come over next, I'd just be like "ehhh not holding my breath this time dude."
Maybe try inviting some other friends instead who will actually follow through on plans. Or focus on chilling with your girl since she's reliable at least! This guy is starting to sound like more trouble than he's worth with all the flaking. His loss if he doesn't wanna game - more fun for you and the homies who will show up!
Yeah i have one friend who wants to game online on my xbox one lol
Hell yeah man, sounds like your other buddy is way more reliable than this flakey dude! Having someone down to game online with you on Xbox is sweet.
I'd say hit that other friend up for sure next time you're looking to play. Screw waiting around for Mr. Flake to maybe follow through. It'll be way more fun playing with someone who's actually excited to game with you.
Plus online is loads better than having to coordinate a long drive. You guys can just hop into party chat and get gaming whenever you both got time. No hassle trying to plan an in-person session days in advance.
I'd say try gaming online with your homie this weekend and forget about even inviting Flaky McGee. Show him you've got other options so he can't just ditch you with no consequences. Maybe someday he'll get his act together, but for now play with someone who puts in effort as a bro should. You deserve reliable people to kick it with!
Find something else to do then?
Like what?
Go to a bar? Masturbate? Play darts? Maybe go to his house?
Yeah those could work lol also he doesn't want to play gamecube games when i have some multiplayer ones lol
