Why does my crush who use to give me so much attention suddenly ignores me and then again starts giving attention?

so basically the situation is quite complicated... so it started out like i stated liking a guy and that guy got to know from his friend that i like him so he used to stare at me some times stalk me and it was fun so after a year i planned to talk to him at an event 5 min before leaving i gathered all the courage i have to talk to him. he was with one of his friend i called him and his friend just vanished in thin air and all the courage i have faded away too. he first started coming so close to me but i just maintained my distance. in the starting he looked into my eyes but later he was in a hurry to go though he had nothing to do and avoided eye contact. since i was so scared i bimistakely said that it was misunderstanding and that i never liked him. and then i went back home. after that day he gave me so much attention and he doesn't hide anymore. then we had our long vacation after the vacation he purposely ignored me like , though i am standing infront of him he doesn't look at me. then recently he started giving attention. what is going on?
