What to do with good morning texts?

This guy who I have met once texts me good morning. So I always be polite and reply hey, good morning. And then he’s like what happening? Or asks then asks questions on things if I reply back.

So now I don’t understand what’s the expectation here… like why should I tell him about my day?
Is this normal?

I think rest is important for slaves, and I require them to text me good morning and to express their gratitude for allowing them to rest. But I don't see why they should expect a response. Maybe I'll put that in the handbook.

It's pretty normal if you're trying to establish a relationship/connection of some kind with someone.

He's trying to establish a connection with you. People who give a shit about each other share parts of their day with each other. It's impossible to cultivate a relationship with someone without having intimacy with them.
