Guys, when do guys ask for girls number?

I've just been wondering since I have friends who are constantly getting approached by guys and getting asked for their insta / numbers but then again on the other side I have absolutely beautiful friends who have never been asked in real life. I wonder why that is? So I get that sometimes it's more scary to approach someone who u consider to be "out of your league" but that's not always the case ofc. So what exactly makes guys take that first step or what doesn't?

And its called," level of confidence" if everh guy in the world had high confidence. Mannn, and women say they get tired of being approached NOW😂

but let's say we are entering the mind of a guy who does want to go ask for the girl in questions number. Whale 🐋 could be two reasons, he wants to clap her cheeks or he wants to be in a relationship with her and he knows it may be his only chance at getting her

Pair that mentality up with low or high confidence and thats how you get guys to approach you
Also it can be that even if she does reject you, well you'll never see her ever again

But its also why guys are more likely to slide in dms
It's easier, in both rejection and to feel confident
