What do I do in this situation?

So, I am talking to this guy that works offshore.

Things have been going great. Then two days ago something happened at his job, and he got really mad. He was telling me about it, and I tried my best to comfort him. He said he just wanted to b**** about it, and I told him I would listen. He kept going on and on. Eventually, he decided he would drive back to his mother’s place, which is on a whole different state (7hr drive I think). He asked his manager if he could go, and while he waited for a response, I didn’t say anything. Reason being that I wanted to give his space to cool off, and I didn’t want to say anything wrong. I eventually texted him back, and explained why I stopped responding. He said it was ok, and that his boss said he could go.
He left what same night, and got home yesterday morning around 11:00 a. m. He told me he was two minutes from his mum’s place, and I texted that I am glad he got there safely.
After that, we didn’t speak the rest of the day. I accidentally texted him something I meant to send a friend, but deleted. Him and I just kind of ignored it. I mean it wasn’t a big deal. He just hasn’t texted me or said anything is the problem. He has been online on socials and his computer. But straight silence. I understand that he is visiting family, friends, and is tired from his trip. But is this normal?
I tend to overthink, but I just want to make sure that is not what I am doing, now. It spikes my anxiety.
