Why are coworkers interested in my age?

I hardly talk to my coworkers but very soon after I started my job one coworker found out my age. Why do they even care how old I am? Do they think I'm unaccomplished or for what reason would someone inquire my age? I didn't tell anyone any details about me.

It's clear that they've been gossiping about you. I've had this happening to me. They didn't ask me about my age on my first day. Then after a few days a girl asked me about my age and she was shocked when I told her that I was 25 (at that time). From what I could understand, my coworkers were making bets about my age.

Maybe your coworkers are nosy. Or they think you look younger or older than you are.

Why were they shocked about your age? And why would they gossip about anyones age?

Because they thought I was 18.
Where I live people are nosy, they make a lot of assumptions and they speak about things they know nothing about. Also their conversations are usually nonsensical, so in their minds talking about someone's age makes sense. Some people are like that.
