Holding my hand with both his hands what does this indicates?

This is a colleague of mine, we work together but he works remotely as he lives in another city.

We met for second time in person at an office party, he texted me to go where he was to see me.

While chatting he smiled a lot and suddenly he took my hand and placed both his hands below and on top of my hand, like giving me a hug with his hands, while looking into my eyes prolonged eye contact. This lasted for more than 2 - 3 minutes or so.

After that we had to say goodbye because he had to go and speak to some other colleagues. Does this mean something?

He said to me that he likes my personality and that I have gained his interest, also that I m the best person he's ever met.. . Does this imply romantic interest or is it pure friendly? Please advise!

He was probably trying to get your vibes or to send his own vibes across through your hands and by looking into your eyes.

That is creepy and you should have reacted the second he put his hands on yours and enclosed your hand. This is not something that is done normally in the Western civilization and I would presume that he is either of an oriental culture where something like that is more common.

However, the prolonged look is creepy and he wanted to make sure to see how you reacted to his behavior. The fact that you let him do that for such a prolonged time leads me to believe that you enjoyed it, otherwise you would have pulled away instantly.
