It has more to do with how men treat height. Being taller is definitely seen as masculine, but truthfully a lot of women just want to date a taller man because dating a shorter man means coddling his insecurities and having to constantly reassure him “YES, babe. I still want you even though you’re shorter than me.” Women end up coddling men a lot in heterosexual relationships. It can be emotionally exhausting to always reassure someone that their insecurities don’t matter and it doesn’t make the relationship worth it after enough time. Women are also guilty of this in their own way, but my understanding is the height thing is specifically so they can have one less insecurity to deal with in their man.
