I don’t really know what to do about this situation?

I have someone I work with. I work at a store. Some of the girls didn’t feel comfortable around a certain employee. It wasn’t anything he really did. They just got the creeps and they said something to HR.

Well this individual ran around to the AM, GM, DM, and the owners because he somehow found out that someone said something and now everything we are doing is being nit picked. They say that they can’t say whose went and said something. But I know that he has connections and the probability of it being him is high.

It’s also customers who are complaining somehow seem to be friendly with this individual.

I don’t know how to fix the situation. Because when one person didn’t do something he just went to the person higher up and complained. Working feels like someone’s breathing down our necks now.

Man that sounds like a super annoying situation to be dealing with at work. That guy sounds really sketchy if multiple girls were getting bad vibes from him. And now he's like retaliating and making your jobs way harder just cause someone went to HR? What a dick move.

It's tough cause going over everyone's heads like that means it'll be hard to confront him directly without it causing more problems. If it was me, I'd just try to stick real close with the other employees and have each other's backs. Like if they try to nitpick any of you, make sure you all back each other up on the details so he can't twist things. And be real polite but distant with that dude, don't give him any ammo.

Maybe you could also go to HR again just to let them know the atmosphere has changed since someone spoke up, and that it seems targeted now. They should address it if it's affecting your work. Other than that, just try to avoid interacting with him as much as possible I guess until something is done. Hope it gets sorted out soon man, sounds super stressful to have to watch your back at your own job like that!

He really never did anything wrong. He’s just not super well groomed and they said they don’t really like him being around though they appreciate the help.

I was dragged into it because they were talking to me. I never really said anything. But they’re saying we are toxic and all this other stuff and how we need to be kind to our fellow associates. Even got one of the managers in trouble because he felt like he was talking to another manager about him in front of customers. So

And HR….. there’s really nobody above the owners. That’s the problem. He runs to them now when he has a problem. The DM was going to fire him. But now we are pretty much stuck.

Plus the assistant DM and the AM’s in the store tend to have his back when he’s there as well

Dang bro, that's insane. So this dude isn't even really doing anything wrong, the girls just don't like his vibe or something? But now he's got the whole place going upside down.

That really sucks they dragged you into it too even though you didn't say much. And now they're making it seem like you guys are in the wrong and being "toxic"? What a load of crap.

Sheesh, so there's no one above the owners even that could help sort it out? That's probably the worst part, that this guy can run to them anytime and they'll take his side. No wonder the DM wanted to fire him.

Sounds like his buddies the assistant DM and AMs always back him up too. So you guys pretty much can't say anything without them twisting it. I don't know what to tell you man, that's a seriously crappy situation. Might not be much that can be done if the top dogs are on his side unfortunately. Really not fair to you and the crew. Hope it gets better somehow!

Well. It was one of the AMs that they said something to. But it’s a problem when someone’s hired because of who they know. Because he runs around saying this and that. Until eventually they’re pushed out
