My friend messaged the guy I had a crush on (pretending that I didn't know she did) and told him she thought we would be cute together. He responded saying he wouldn't be interested because he is in a relationship... the way he acts around me doesn't give me those vibes but it also took him 24 hours to answer her saying that. Wouldn't he have just said that right away if he was dating someone and not wait a whole day or is it maybe just a cover up answer to something else?

I wouldn’t concern myself with the timing of his response because you don’t know what his day was like or what’s going on, on his end. The fact still remains that he’s unavailable, so if I were you I wouldn’t be finding reasons to look at it any other way.

Maybe he has or just doesn’t want yo have relationship or something more than friend with you.

And honestly, even if he is lying, what difference does it make? If he wanted a relationship with you at all, he wouldn't have denied the possibility of having a relationship with you.
