Why would a guy ask this?

I hooked up with this guy abroad a few years ago and we planned to meet each other again during a trip. I had to tell him I wasn't going to be able to see him during the trip. He asked: "Are you going with someone? 😄"

Why would he ask that? 😕

Hmm that is kinda weird that he asked that! Like what exactly is he trying to get at ya know?

A couple possible reasons pop into my head for why he'd ask if you were going with someone:

1. He might be trying to gauge if you're still single or dating someone else now. Guys can get jealous even if it's just a casual hookup situation.

2. Could be he's hoping you'd hook up again on this trip, so wondering if there's competition now for your time/attention if you're with a boyfriend/partner.

3. A bit less innocent - maybe he wants to see if you'd still be down to hang alone together even if you're "with someone." Some shady dudes will try sizing up if a girl is loyal or not.

Who knows what his actual intentions are! I wouldn't read too much into it sis. If it gave you a funny vibe maybe just keep things brief and polite next time you chat. Some dudes just don't think before they speak, bleh. You stay safe out there!

In this case, it was a formal social situation. I think it is always ok to have a non intimate dance with a partner other than our SO. I don't know why people get so wound up about stuff like this.
