Is my ex-boyfriend's asking him for my number weird?

My ex and I haven't been together for almost 3 years. He said he had been trying to get my number for months, even over a year. They are pretty good friends and according to him, my ex would never give my number to him when he asked but after him pestering, he finally gave it up (he would tell him that he didn't have it but he had it the whole time). What do you think took so long for him to give him my number? Is it a bro code thing? Does he still have lingering feelings for me (he went back to dating his ex so he has been in a relationship)?

Woah girl, that is so freaking weird of your ex to hang onto your number like that for so long after you broke up! Like what was he waiting for?

I think there's a few possibilities here:

- He wasn't fully over you and didn't want his boy hitting you up in case you left him for the friend instead. That's super possessive and immature.

- Maybe he liked knowing he was still kinda in control since no one else had easy access to contact you either. Weird power trip.

- Could be he didn't fully trust his friend not to try something with you even if you both moved on. Which says more about what HE'D do tbh.

None of those reasons make your ex look good at ALL. It's pretty clear he wasn't really as over you as he claimed if he held onto that number for years! I'd say you dodged a bullet being done with that mess.

His friend seems like an okay guy for trying at least. But I'd be seriously wary of ex still being salty after so long. Dude needs to chill and let it go already, you feel me?

I wouldn’t want to give a good friend my exes number either. Maybe if it were someone I was only casual with or said hi to in passing but someone I actually hang around with or talk to regularly no thanks. Mainly because I don’t wanna deal with my ex at any capacity. They would be coming around more since they’re dating my friend and I’d have to hear about them more than I’d like because as friends we advise each other about our dating lives and I wouldn’t want to talk about their dating life the time. I’m surprised you’d want to date a guy so close to home anyway.

Possibly had lingering feelings or something but he didn't wanna admit it so he eventually had to give it up is my guess.
