Is it okay that my boyfriend has his ex's phone number?

One time I had to use my boyfriends phone to call someone so I asked him if I can use it and he gave it to me and I was looking for the contact in his phone (side note: he puts hearts next to some of the names like mine and a couple of other friends which I'm okay with because they are also my friends and I love them) but I saw he still had his ex girlfriend's contact with a broken heart emoji and I heard him mention to his brother before that she had broke his heart and before we started dating he was scared because of how his previous relationship ended. But my question is if she hurt him like he says she did why does he still have her number and they are also Facebook friends. So should I be worried about this?

It depends how long the break-up has been. If it was recent, then he simply did not yet have time to remove her from his phone.

However, if this break-up was more than a month ago, then he should have severed all contacts with her and not kept her phone number in the list. I would say that if the separation has been longer than a month, he should have removed it.

If your boyfriend keeps the number, it is for a good reason and you should probably ask him for that reason. If I separate from an ex, I want everything that reminds me of that person gone as quickly as possible.

We have been a "thing" for about a year then he asked me out and it has been official for 6 months... so a year and a half

Unless they ended on bad terms I dont see why he wouldn't have it just look for things like putting his phone face down often are his notifications silent also has he given you a reason not to trust him?

That's what I was thinking too but then I thought that maybe at one time he had a heart at her name and at some point he had to go back to it to change the heart emoji

I don't know. I mean if he didn't give you other reasons to worry about it, I'd drop it. Even if he deleted the number, he'd probably have it memorized if they were together for a long period. About the emoji thing, maybe he changed it before he met you?

If it makes you insecure or bothers you, talk to him and ask him about it.
