Like if he has his arm around your shoulders and his hand is wrapped around the side of your shoulder or something.
1.3K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. I think it depends on your relationship with him. If he's a friend that never touches you, but puts his arm on your shoulder or around your waist for the photo, he may be hoping for more of a relationship with you.

What if he’s a friend of one of your siblings?

(a friend that you don’t know well at all)

It can but its usually is for anyone they feel comftorable with. For me at least i dont won't to intrude on any friends personal space but if they make me put my hand around the shoulders, on their hips, or even near their ass idc and we can be friends or more it really doesn't mean anything

And if he chose to put his arm around me for a photo?

I don't know i think ur looking into this way too much

I don’t know, the comment section and people who I’ve shown the photo to each seem pretty divided

It has the potential to mean something. I know when a guy wraps his arm around you but just lets his arm rest loosely and his hand doesn't even touch your arm then it's like he doesn't care usually indicating you guys are not close.

What if he wraps his arm around your shoulder and his hand is hanging on to your upper arm/side of your shoulder?

He might think you're cool or possibly be attracted to you. How did he act before and as he was putting his arm around you?

Ok so here’s the context:
Him and I have only met once before.
This most recent time, we were in my kitchen at my brothers engagement party and I was having an issue with my camera/testing it out and he said "you wanna split a mango?" I was about to explain that I'm not a fan of mangos when he, while looking at me (I was behind him so he couldn't look at me and the mango at the same time), tries to cut the mango with a chefs knife and fails. He then says something like "aw it didn't work" when he sees that the knife didn't go all the way through. After that I just tell him that it's ok and he should be careful because that's a chef knife so it's sharp. Then, later on, he notices and remembers small things like if my shoe was untied or if I mentioned that it was hard to tie my shoe while having my camera hanging around my neck. Then, towards the end of the party and after asking for the photo with me, I hung out inside and so did he (pretty much everyone else was outside except for us and my sister) and he watched my favorite show with me for a few minutes before asking to watch Game of Thrones because I had never seen it before. After a while, my brother and his other friends came inside and started measuring themselves up against our measuring wall and he joined them. Then, he measures something at waist height and writes something to mark it and one of my brothers other friends drunkly says “nah that’s gonna be up there forever dude!” and my brother erases whatever it was before I could see what he wrote. When I asked my brother about it the next morning, he says something like ‘uh it was nothing, don’t worry’ or ‘I’m not sure what you’re talking about.’
Then about a week later we add each other on Snapchat and I send him a photo and he opens it but never responds. However, after ghosting me he accepts my follow request on Instagram and follows me back. - 1 mo
He probably thinks you're cute but not interested enough to pursue something. I'd be cautious. A guy who is truly interested in you will not ghost you.

Not necessarily as you don't know the context of the photo.

What if the guy is the girls older brothers friend and the guy and the girl have only met like once before?

Yes def. There are many specifics depending on your relationship, where the hand is, and even things like age or age differences.
As far as if you are in a relationship, his hand placement can kind of “claim” you or show affection, or it can look aloof or not confident, or kind of in between. In general I think holding hands looks sweet, his arm around my shoulder looks loving and a little bit claiming me, his hand on my waist looks frisky and claiming me. I would hope nobody was taking pics if his hand was on my butt or something like that, I don’t mind him doing it I just don’t want pics.
I make an effort not to end up in a pic with a different guy, like say a guy friend, with his hand in what looks like a “claiming” type position too much (arm around shoulder is OK).10 ReplyIt could do, but when my brother puts his arms around me, it's simply him being a loving brother. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it depends on the relationship you have with the guy.

Yes, it means its a comfortable position this way. re-state//background_color_rgba (0, 0, 0, 0), font_color_rgb (77, 77, 77), justifyLeft

Subconsciously, maybe. Hand placement isn't something most guys would actively think about though.

Not really, though it might be interpreted as an indicator of how well you know each other.
10 Reply It does show how comfortable they are with you.
It can also tell how they see you re-state//background_color_rgba (0, 0, 0, 0), font_color_rgb (77, 77, 77), justifyLeft10 Reply- 1 mo
Yes. I would think so. Sometimes you see a picture of a guy and girl and they look like an "item" and other times you can tell they are friends or brother and sister,

I’d have to go back to our guy manual… No, it doesn’t mean anything. It depends how touchy feels and comfortable the guy is with you
