Why is it bugging me that my guy friend said I was his girlfriend’s but it was a joke?

So I know it was a joke but when my guy friend and his mom came over we all had a chat and caught up since we know each other well.
My dad asked my guy friend if he had a girlfriend and he said no. He was like why not. He looked stroked. Then he said that I was his girlfriend. My face got bright red. I was like, “Oh we’re a thing now?” His mom said, “Well you know now.” My dad hugged him. I know they’re just joking but now I’m kind of upset. Nothing wrong with my guy friend but I don’t see him that way. I never dad. I know he liked me back then but he never called or asked in on a date. He asked he to go to the school dance several times. I did go with him twice but we’re JUST FRIENDS. My dad knows I’m single. What if my guy friend really asks me out! I love being single. Plus we grew up together and I don’t want to ruin our friendship.

Why did my dad have to ask that question? Then I would still be single! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

I realized your in your late 20s. You made it sound like you were in your teens, maybe still in high school. So you’ve never had a boyfriend all this time? Maybe you do like him deep down but you’re concerned about the friendship for one as you mentioned. Maybe you’re concerned that he would cheat or abandon you. Have you had good relationships w previous men?
