Someone please slap some senses to me. Be harsh.

I met Ash one morning at a bus/taxi stop near my university. We shared a taxi that day, and he sat next to me. His strong, pleasant perfume and neat appearance caught my attention, sparking my curiosity. I later discovered he was a student in my major but in a different class. I noticed he was quiet, had few friends, and rarely hung out after class.

One day, I decided to ask for his number, fabricating a small lie to get it. From then on, I was always the one to initiate our conversations, which were strictly university-related, starting with “Can you please…” and ending with “Thank you, have a great day!”

In my third year, we had to choose a specialty, and we ended up in the same class. Ash was active, engaging in discussions, completing assignments, and interacting with professors. However, during the first session, one of my friends recognized him and loudly said, “Omg, is that Ash?” teasing me because she knew I liked him. My other friends, unaware of who he was, repeatedly asked, “Who is Ash?” loud enough for him to hear. Embarrassed, I checked Instagram and noticed he had unfollowed me. He’d also unfollowed me on TikTok weeks prior.

Once, he saw me playing chess in class. A week later, he messaged me first, asking if I wanted to play. Nervous and inexperienced, I lost the game, and my awkward messages didn’t help. Afterward, he removed me from his friends list on the app, yet said he’d like to play again when I improved. Despite his general in-person indifference, I once flirted with him, asking him to teach me chess, which was completely dumb of me to do..

Lately, Ash has been hanging out with a quiet, introverted classmate. They sit together and seem like a couple. Around her, he ignores me entirely. However, after our last session of the week, when she wasn’t around, he briefly greeted me as we walked…
