Is it normal for a guy friend who has a girlfriend to introduce me to his mom?

for context he just randomly one day he invited me to talk to his mom because she’s an artist as well as me. previously from that he also wanted to go to eat breakfast and go to a book store. yes he has a girlfriend i see him as a cool friend i just met him a couple months ago too so im utterly confused.

That's not really strange at all to me. I have close guy friends that I have known for a long time. Many are in relationships and I know their families, including their moms. Heck I even will go out with them for a drink (my friends) from time to time. They have girlfriends and I'm in a relationship as well. It's called having friends and not being insecure in a relationship. Same with my girlfriend. She has work friends and outside work friends. She goes to lunch with them without me. I'd have to ask how many of them moms she knows but you get the point. Reverse is true too. Many of my guy friends that are really close have met my parents many times. I don't find this strange at all really

Seems just polite. Same thing if you go to someone's house and their parents/siblings are home you get introduced to them. If you have some other suspicious we need more context.

It could be very benign, in his mind maybe it has more to do with his mom wanting to meet other artists than it is about you? she could be telling him how lonely she is or something and he's thinking to himself "I know a girl that may click with mom." or maybe he's grooming you to be his side hustle? Hard to know without seeing him interact with you and his girlfriend.

Honestly, the ‘talk to his mom since she’s also an artist’ part didn’t phase me… Though the eating breakfast & book store sounds a bit ‘forward’ in my view.

If you feel there is a ‘coming onto you’ vibe about him, you could ask him upfront what his intentions are of the friendship between you two… Would reach a proper conclusion to be frank.

as i guy i find its easier to get an idea of what a girl is like regardless of intentions if i meet the parents cause you will most liklely put on some facade as all people do at first but parents are the closest thing to you that has not reason to lie so yes he could be intrested but more likely he is just being polite and tryna get a better idea of who you are

It’s normal , you are both just friends’ my girl friends’ have met my parents’ numerous times when I would invite them over to party and hang out , I’m not sure how his girlfriend would feel about it but if you both are just friends’ than it’s not that big of a deal

Isn't grabbing food and sharing common interest a basic pillar of friendship? You might not believe in male/female platonic relations as much as you think you do if this is leaving you confused.
