Why would a guy acquaintance introduce me to his mom?

There’s no indication that he likes me in any way romantic, just acquaintances who see each other around and talk sometimes. But I was walking and on my way to get coffee and he was with his mom. I was out of their sight until he called my name and said “I want you to meet my mom!” We’re not that close but anyway I didn’t have a problem with it. But I was just confused because isn’t that only for girlfriends or friends who are very close?

There is nothing special about a girl being introduced to a guy's mom. It's not something ground breaking you only do with someone you are very serious about.

My parents knew a lot of my friends, including female friends who were just friends.

Could be he just likes you a lot as a friend and wanted you to meet his Mom. Or it could be he has more serious ideas about you.

He might have been simply being friendly and wanted to introduce you to his mother as a courtesy.

Sounds like he is more proud of his mom then he is of you. He was with his mom for purposes other then meeting you, but when he saw you he had to show her off. Was she a cool mom?
