We joke around about sleeping with eachother and everyone thinks we have a thing for EACHTOHER but he has said multiple times he doesn’t look at me like that, but it feels like he does when we’re together

There is always a certain truth behind a statement, even if this statement is done jokingly or without apparent interest.

This is exactly the same situation as when you behave or say things when intoxicated. Alcohol inhibits normal thinking and behavior and people start telling things that they would normally never say by fear of rejection or because it is inappropriate.

Making statements about sex in a joking way with someone that is receptive to those is exactly the same. Both are on the same wavelength and it is only a matter until the one or the other reacts to those statements.

It is the best way to lose a friendship because when the one friend realizes that there is more than just a joke, then this friendship is in jeopardy.

Best to put your friend in his place by telling him not to make those statements.

No. If he says he doesn't then you have to take that as the truth. I don't know why you joke about sleeping with each other. That's not something that friends joke about. Once you cross that line the entire friendship changes so I have no idea why anyone would joke about it. As you can see it is already causing problems and awkwardness because now you don't know how he feels about you since you two have brought up sex. If he has told you that he doesn't like you in the way that you want him to (romanticly) then he doesn't. I don't know why he would lie to you about that or deny it if he did other than he doesn't want to lose you as a friend which very well may happen if you take the friendship to a relationship.

Agree friendship over as soon as someone mentions sleeping together! Often it's more lust than affects feelings. Those late night what ifs just eat the friendship on someone's part.

There’s usually some truth behind jokes. Sounds like he’s just trying to bang those walls but he’s playing it off like it’s a joke. Ask him, you don’t see me like that how? As in a girlfriend but someone you’d bang? If you’re somewhat cute chances are he wants to hit it.
