Guys, Is it common for guys to let the women in their life buy their clothes?

My dad's closest has mostly clothes that were bought for him by female family members is this a normal guy thing?

When a guy is unmarried, probably not. Because the woman in his life doesn't have that kind of close enough relationship OR desire to spend money on him for that.

When you're married, yes. Because most guys hate shopping unless it's for tools. But what is purchased tends to be what the guy likes. Also, you may not know this but there's lots of things your dad bought your mom to wear. Although if she is too picky he just gives her gift cards or cash to shop with.

I don't think it's a matter of "let". My sisters always just buy me clothes. I think because they get tired of seeing me wear the same things. And if left to my devices I'd wear the same clothes that graduated from high school wearing. Why wouldn't? I liked them then, I like them now, and they're still very functional.

None of my girlfriends ever bought clothes for me. I always shopped for and bought my own.

But I have taken my wife shopping with me and she has pointed out clothes that I wouldn't have selected for myself. As it turned out, some of those became my favorites.
Also, early in our relationship, she bought me a vest. I would never have thought of wearing a vest. But it was really cool and I wore it a lot. I still wear it sometimes.

So I kinda like having her assistance in picking out clothes.

Common? Not for me it isn't. Not since I was about 17. I have my own sense of style and I'm really picky. I buy my own clothes, wash my own clothes, and iron my own clothes. I don't need a woman to do any of that for me just as no woman I've ever been involved with has ever asked me to pick out her clothing and dress her.

Any guy who isn't doing this stuff and can't cook well enough to feed himself basic meals by age 21 is failing at life IMHO. I know there are guys out there like this. I just don't understand it.

Not really cause some guys ideas of cute are a little sexier then I'm willing to wear. All I said was I didn't see a problem with guys letting the female family members shop for their clothes not that I want to shop for their clothes.

Not for me, but I think some guys just can't be bothered or have poor fashion sense and leave it to the woman in their life. I do like to get a female's opinion on clothing as they generally seem to have better taste and they are the one that has to look at me.

I don't know if I'd say that it's common, but I don't think I would say that it's uncommon either. A lot of guys hate shopping and fashion so they really don't care what they're wearing. Myself included.

I prefer to buy my own clothes. I love my wife she does not buy my clothes for me because I have my personal styles. The only thing she may buy is my underwear.

All of my dad's clothes are bought for him by my sister or mom. I buy all of my own though. So I guess, maybe its common?

My wife buys all mine because I hate shopping. Now I have a lot of nice clothes, mostly from resale and thrift shops.

Sometimes yes. Most guys aren't really that interested in shopping clothes. We rather buy guy toys for it

I usually buy my own clothes but I usually go to the same clothing store and I have a trusted female sales rep there that assists me with all my purchases and any alterations they may need to fit perfectly.
