A guy has shown various attraction signs, he knows I like him, he’s started using heart emojis to react to my messages, does that mean anything or is it standard to use heart emojis in the workplace now?

He knows you like him and is doing nothing with that information. Nothing. That should say a lot to you about what he does or doesn’t want to happen between you, and it looks like he isn’t trying to go there. One of the biggest reasons is the most obvious, but you are coworkers. Even if you don’t see each other at work, or dating in the workplace is allowed, the average person does not want all the drama that usually comes with that sort of relationship. He could also be seeing someone already, but since he isn’t talking about it or posting it online, you assume he’s available.

Thanks for this. Yes point taken, what you say makes a lot of sense. I guess it’s just hard to see someone you like every day, but of course I’m professional etc, i wish I didn’t find him so attractive. You’re right about the girlfriend/marriage thing I have no clue really as he never says.

I hear you for sure. I think we all can relate to having a crush on a coworker at some point and honestly I think it’s normal. I mean in most cases you see these people more in the week than your own friends or family, so you’re sure to catch some kind of feelings. In this case, you had the courage to put your feelings out there but he isn’t doing anything with that information. Sure we could take the hearting your posts and make it mean something, but if it does then what’s the message? For you to keep making a first move and chase him since he isn’t doing it first? You removed the scariest part of the situation and that’s to confirm the other person likes you, all he has to do is keep the ball rolling and it says a lot that he isn’t doing so. I hope you keep that in mind next time he’s hearting your content. As for moving on, your best bets are to either find a new job or a new man as a distraction. Without these things it’ll be hard because you don’t have the space to get over him, you see him too much.
