There’s a number of reasons. One being that he’s keeping her on the back burner in case he’s looking for a little fun. Whether that’s when he’s single or w another girl. Also if things don’t work out w another he can go back to her. He may be playing on her emotions to get things out of her, especially if she works in some sort of job that she can get things for him. Could also be that he just did t delete the number. I have a number of contacts in my phone that I haven’t talked to in years but never deleted them. Maybe they continued to be friends.

He might still have her number because they're still in contact, he's not over her, he's holding onto hope, he forgot to delete it, or he has a specific reason for keeping it.
