How To Tell If A Guy Is Into You?

Hi! I'm interested in this guy I did a program with a couple of years ago. When we first met, we had some good conversations and laughs, and I briefly considered what it would be like to be involved with him. However, we lived an hour away from each other, and we were both going into our last year of high school, which was important for both of us because he wanted to pursue medicine, and I wanted to pursue law.

We messaged a bit throughout year 12, but we were both extremely busy and involved people. Now we're both in our desired degrees (at different universities), and we've been chatting a lot more since we graduated high school. And now I rather like the idea of forming a relationship with him.

Now, the issue is, that I really can't tell whether he's into me. When we chat it's only a little bit and for a short amount of time, but he doesn't have any social media except for instagram and is barely on it or his phone for that matter. I took a jump (nervously might I add) and asked him if he wanted to come out with me, I used my friend as an excuse (which she encouraged) and said that my friend and I are going out and he's welcome to come with a friend. At first he was super enthusiastic about it and said absolutely, but then he couldn't find a friend to come, then told me that he couldn't make it anymore. But! He rescheduled a meetup for a couple days earlier saying that he'd come to my university and study with me so we can catch up and still get some stuff done.

I really like this guy, probably more than I realise, because he's a genuinely kind and fun person who is very similar to me and holds similar values, which is really important to me. I just really want to see some more concrete signs that he's into me.

*Side note, the night before he cancelled I had a dream that he messaged me that he wasn't into me like that and wanted to cancel the meetup, which in my opinion is so weird lol.
