Why do guys have a larger adams apple than women?

Well AP Biology has taught me a lot so let's put that to use.
Guys typically have a larger Adam's apple because of the difference in their hormones, mainly testosterone. During puberty, testosterone causes the cartilage in the larynx (voice box) to grow, which makes the Adam's apple more prominent. Women also have an Adam’s apple, but it’s usually less noticeable because their hormones don’t cause the same growth. It’s kind of just one of those cool, natural differences between guys and girls that’s tied to voice deepening and other physical changes during puberty.
good overview! you AP kids in HS good grief, I was dumb as a door nail... all I got to do was look at amoeba's and dissect a frog... blech! you are looking at dna and hormones and such, I guess school doing a good job now?
Isn't it fascinating how the hormones fire the brain to make changes. I learned it is a factor in how we think and behave, not just physical. How life figured out how to divide into two separate parts with different hormones to draw to one another... that's one for a double PhD.
@saggitariusdiva Wow ! You are smart! 🤓
If it weren't for the gpt chat I would never have had good grades in biology 😂
In the future I wonder if we can just tell the professor to lookup their own question on chat GPT and stop annoying us with questions. haha, that's a joke.
wow, yea, it's a new world I had to read endless pages that made no sense.
Because the hormones.
During puberty, the surge of testosterone in men causes the larynx (voice box) to grow and descend. This growth leads to the formation of the Adam's apple. And women have higher levels of estrogen, which inhibits the growth of the larynx, resulting in a less prominent Adam's apple.
@neilsmart no, his looks small
@neilsmart
I don’t see her adam apple
The Adam's apple is a bump on the neck that is formed by the largest cartilage of the larynx (voice box).
During puberty, boys experience a surge in testosterone levels, which stimulates the growth of the larynx and the Adam's apple.
Also men tend to have deeper voices than women, which requires a larger larynx and vocal cords to produce.
so women will be attractive due to smooth neck. maybe eve ate a smaller bite of forbidden apple but adam ate a bigger sin apple.

it’s because during puberty, guys' voice boxes grow larger and their vocal cords thicken, making the Adam’s apple more prominent... Basically, it’s like a natural ‘level-up’ for a deeper voice!.
women don't have adams apple as eve gave adam an apple a metaphor of the forbidden fruit
Testosterone. We usually carry our balls outside too.
I'm more heavy set than him, but a few years ago when my weight dropped thanks to a coma it was probably about the same.
If I had to guess I'd say he's probably a baritone - not as big as most bass singers I know and larger than most tenors.
My neck went from 19" to 14" while I was sick, and back up to 18" now. Muscle and fat both tend to hide the larynx a bit
I've spent a lot of time around singers. The basses I know - generally - have a more prominent larynx than him.
When I lost weight (in a coma, not by choice) a few years ago and my larynx was at its most prominent it looked like his. Tenors - generally have a less prominent (but still visible usually) larynx.
Just an educated guess.
Google Geoff Castelluci. That guy has the deepest voice I've heard in years and from some angles he looks like he's growing a second head out of his throat.
Women don't have adam apple but men do because of testosterone. Because of adam apple we have deep voice testorne boster
I think since we have deeper voices and sometimes it’s more visible to look larger. Also it gets larger during puberty for guys.
Mine is not as noticeable as his it bulge as much as his he has a bigger Adam’s apple
Yeah he probably does.
I never thought of this. I have no idea. But why is this in the sexuality tab?
In general women don’t have an Adam’s apple unless they are trans.
because we picked first... the bigger apple
nope
nope...
that thing is just cartilage... doesn't really have a direct relation to the vocal box (inside) or the vocal folds
that's just mere chance... just like anything else in us that do grow bigger as we grow up
and then some just end up bigger, that's all
mine would be a bit more prominent
Because they are men
@neilsmart yes
@neilsmart no
It is for the deeper vocal chords
Sir, women don’t have that
