Why do guys do this right before breaking up with a girl?

I saw a video on Facebook and it made me curious as to why guys do this?

In my perspective it doesn't really soften the blow nor does it alleviate the hurt and emotions a girl feels if you promise her many things. It breaks the trust that girls have in men when they are dating.

But I could be wrong - tell me your thoughts?

I have never made any sort of promise I would do anything with any girl. Mind you I tend to choose girlfriend/wife with a view to long term instead of the short term BS some girls I have been with seem content to be like.

Promises are easily made but difficult to fulfil. Young people want gratification more and more these days without making any sacrifices

Ah I remember when facebook banned me. After learning all the junk FB does.. Put it simply I can't watch that video.
