Why would a guy squeeze my hand so hard while a handshake?

So, both of us are family friends. We have known each other since he was 5 and i was 10. But lost interaction because my family shifted city..

He kept contact on messages.. till i was age 19 and he was 14. Later, his family switched country. I got busy with studies and all.

Well we didn't interacted much even when we met on gatherings because of the age gap.

Cut to now, he's 22 and I'm 27. His family came back and we exchanged greetings verbally...

Cut to few days later, we accidentally met on some of our mutual friends.. He offered his hand for a handshake.. and he squeezed the shit out of it...

I usually wear a ring on my ring finger... And i could feel its metal touch my bones.. on my pink and middle finger..

Then he came for a stay at our house.. not with his family.. only him and stayed for 2 days

• Some guys are insecure and believe that a firm handshake demonstrates strength or dominance when it actually demonstrates a lack of social education.
• Some guys are just clueless or excited in the moment and don't realize how hard they are squeezing the other person's hand.
• Some guys fail to make allowances for how you shake a woman's hand vs another man vs a child.

I always strive to give the appropriate firmness for the individual I'm shaking hands with. But that never translates to trying to crush the other person's hand in some contest of strength. A handshake is meant to be a friendly form of social greeting or a formal gesture in business or diplomacy. It is not a strength contest.

I've accidentally done it to girls. It's out of habit tbh. 90% of the hands I shake are other guys and I give a firm handshake. I forget to to be less firm with women.

Hard to say as some do shake hands or hug the same way with everyone. You have to be on the look out to see how he shakes others hands in order to know if there is a difference.
