Does my dad act like he wants to be my man?

I used to be a dad’s girl and he was a good dad growing up and he’s still a good dad despite some issues regarding blended families.

But I just get this Weird vibe… wanting my location for safety, wants to know where I’m at and gets mad when he thinks I’m lying, ask me how my hair looks and wants to pay, nails/ feet too, just some uncomfortable things sometimes.. wants me to look cute when I see him… said he would pick out my clothes online… I am almost 30 and live out of state

But my dad has gone through a lot and he is married.. but I don’t think he has any friends and he’s lonely.. his wife comes off as self centered only caring about herself and what he can do for her and her adult children.. they’ve been together for years tho

Based on what you are describing it doesn't sound like he wants to be anything more than an overly caring and protective parent, unless there are things you have omitted. If what he's doing annoys you, try to find a tactful way to tell him to dial it down.

While it can be jarring to have a parent act this way, especially when you are nearly 30 and living independently, these actions often stem from a mix of emotional stuntedness and projection rather than something romantic. It is a little weird, but mostly sounds like he is just being mostly being overprotective and overbearing. Maybe ask him to take a step back.
