When a guy says he can ‘read’ me, what does he really mean?

This guy I’ve been talking to said I cared about him. I replied and said why do you want me to? He then said he can read me.

I've never had anyone say they can read me before?

Is this the typical thing guys say to girls? Or not?

He may have said it in hopes you care about him or to get you to admit if you do.
