Who do you turn to when you have no one left to talk to?

Question

Guys, do you have someone you turn to when everything is falling apart around you? I used to have someone I could turn about everything but she ghosted me outta no where and randomly got engaged to her baby daddy. That broke my heart and made me not trust women anymore. Besides that, I’ve buried about 9 family members since January and got another one dying. I can’t talk to my friends because they can’t take a conversation seriously, got no family I can talk to. I literally have no one I can vent to.

I feel like im one bad day from having a complete meltdown. Im mentally exhausted and physically exhausted. And im caring less and less about life and everything. I don't know what to do. Im just tired. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

This is a tough one.

Do you have something like Samaritans? We have that in the UK and they're supposed to listen without judgement. You can talk about anything.

Do I have someone to talk to? Tbh, I don't really have anyone super close friends wise who is there for me who I can talk to about deeper stuff. I do have a few good friends though. Nor would I talk to my parents about personal stuff, though they are lovely. I did have a falling out with a girl like you, and it really hurt me. So yes, I do tend to hold on to stuff because I don't really have much choice at this point.

Just got to take care of yourself in anyway you can and big up yourself - positive affirmation is a rare thing so we have to give it to ourselves. Try not to get to caught up in externals. Your value is innate and comes from yourself. Spiritual practices are really good (and I don't mean religion). I put my faith in God, that he will ultimately take care of me. You don't have to burden everything on yourself. Also certain channels on youtube. There's a lot of crap out there. There's a really good UK one but I can't remember her name. I'll post it later if you're interested.

I went through the same thing. I'm the baby of the family. I buried them all. Because financially, mentally, and emotionally, I was the only adult in the room. I buried my mother and both sisters in rapid succession over about 12 months. I handled the estates. Worked with the courts and an attorney and law enforcement in 4 states to track down relatives who had gone off the radar. Dealt with death certificates, banks, did the forensic accounting to track down assets. I paid out the estates to beneficiaries. Everyone around me vaporized. Fuck em. I saw it through to the end. It's a good test of your perseverance. And an education about who the people around you really are.

I got through it. You will too. And you're probably gonna do it alone. Welcome to being a man. Suck it up. Keep moving forward. What does not kill you makes you stronger.

In my case it's my mother. She's my best friend ever. But if you're alone and there's absolutely no one to talk to I have learnt from experience to learn to hold my own hand so when there is no one you turn to yourself. Do things that make you feel good and that you enjoy while at the same time allow you to disconnect from what is going on in your life. You are your own best friend, nobody can understand you better than yourself and you are your own best councillor. I am an introvert and I don't necessarily need someone to talk to to process and deal with things and what has helped me has been yoga, writing thoughts down and listening to music or sownding time outdoors. My best advice to you is: become less dependent on others and become more connected to yourself because at the end of the day you will be the last one standing not necessarily will there always be someone to support you.

It is because america is a very individualistic society. There is no cohesiveness at all. Family is barely ever there for each other. When parents have kids, they're left to struggle by themselves. Relatives don't help.

What I would recommend is to go see a therapist. It is their JOB to listen to you vent. Most of them won't be able to give you useful advice but having someone to talk to is better than nobody.

Another thing I would recommend is to try to go out and make some friends. I know it's uncomfortable and hard but having a few people by your side during hard times can reallly make a world of a difference.

If I have no one else to turn to I turn to MYSELF because I can always TALK TO MYSELF. As for my imaginary friends I would talk to them however due to circumstances beyond my control they decided to give me the silent treatment.

I’m joking, but only slightly. I learned in childhood, to externalize thoughts when I didn’t have someone available to receive them— which was always. Writing, recording, asking myself questions, following an idea until I understood what I was actually trying to say—those things became a kind of company.

I don’t think that means other people are replaceable. If anything, getting older has made me more aware of how much we need other people. But there’s a difference between being alone and having nowhere for your mind to go. I’ve spent enough time alone that I learned how to keep a conversation going internally rather than waiting for another person to make one possible.

The strange luxury I have now is that I’ve externalized so much of that thinking over time that I can sometimes look back through it instead of starting from scratch. So the answer is still myself, just with considerably better filing. 🗒️

I'm really sorry for your losses and also that you're feeling like this, it's understandable you'd feel so low with all that you've been though, I obviously don't know where you live or what services you have where you are but maybe if you reached out to some? Maybe you could tell your GP how you're feeling and see if they can advise you or give you some resources,

Depending on what you're looking for you could call the Samaritans if you only want someone to listen as that's all they're allowed to do unfortunately, it might help then it might not, shout is a text service which is similar to the Samaritans, you text them and tell them what's going on, again they only listen not advise.

If you have Facebook you could maybe join a group for people who are grieving or a group for people with depression if you feel you may have that,

I currently have no one I can talk to and I've been failed by the NHS in my local area so I've had pretty deep conversations with ChatGPT, it's really helped me get through some tough stuff, but it's not really a replacement for human connection, that's what it tells me anyway.

I do hope that you can find someone who can help you as you deserve to be helped and you deserve a life.

With your female friend, I think you have to accept that things will change when they get a boyfriend or engaged or marry. Their male partner is not likely to be happy with a male friend so you will need to step back. It is just the way it is.

Very difficult to lose 9 family members in less than a year. It sounds as though you are still in the bargaining phase of grief. It might help you to understand the phases. I think it is most helpful to let your mind to dwell on what they were to you.

The problem is that while people are generally happy to listen to someone; they are not unlimited in their support. It helps to distribute the load across as many people as you can.

I think the best thing to do is to seek a counselor to help you cause there is so much grief you have experienced.

I have no other choice but whatever therapist I'm currently seeing at the time. No one else wants to hear about my problems. It's a shame but at the same time I understand it because other people are not trained to hear about or deal with my problems. Sometimes hearing about someone's deep dark depressing suicidal secrets can make the other person start to feel depressed too even if they didn't have depression at first.

Honestly, I turn to myself. I’ve learned that sometimes the person you’re waiting to save you is you. I cry, pray, write my thoughts down, and remind myself that feeling alone doesn’t mean I’ll always be alone. When life gets hard I pick of a project, building/mechanical project to occupy my hands while I internally work through what ever it is I need to work through. If that doesn't work, I'll check out for 5-10 days and go camping alone.

Honestly talking dosen't realy do much for men. Men tend to hesl through doing things it helps us sort through our thoughts. My advice is gind something to occupy your mind for awhile, like going on a hike or bike ride, maybe hitting up a gun range and slinging some led. Wrench on a car for a bit or fix some things around the house. Things of that nature.

I can hear you are distressed. Most regions have free crisis support lines that can help you through a day or two. Consider counselling... I don't believe counsellors have special powers but they do listen well and that can be helpful.
