Do guys care about if a girl has money or not?

When you're dating a girl, do you care if she has money or not? Do you care what type of job she has? What if she's trying her best? She has a job but doesn't get paid as much as you, does that make you want to or not want to go out with you? thoughts?

Honestly, I was raised old-school, with me and my friends it was always the guy that treated when he asked a girl out. That having been said, even if I wasn't brought up like that, I have to say that the amount of money a girl has means nothing to me. It's not anywhere in the equation. If she's sweet, and we have fun together, that's way more important than her having cash.

HOWEVER,...what does matter if she doesn't have money and isn't contributing, is that she doesn't take it for granted that I'm doing all the spending. I don't need parades or medals, and I'm not hinting at a "put-out or get-out" type thing. I just want to know that she isn't insensitive to the fact that I'm paying for things and I'm not made of money.

She can achieve it by simple comments and offers like "if it's too expensive let's do something else", said nicely, not like "oh, you're too poor to pay for it?". Offering to share a dessert instead of ordering two. Maybe surprising with a picnic lunch one day as acknowledgment that he usually treats and she wants him to know she isn't oblivious to that fact, so picnic lunch is her treat. Maybe offering to occasionally treat to a movie (like 10% of the time), or when he treats to a movie, you buy and share the soda,...or even insisting on leaving the tip when he pays for meals. Just something to acknowledge that money don't grow on trees and she's not expecting him to work 5 jobs to keep her in sushi and plane tickets. (Exaggeration, but you get the point.)

Bottomline, be your adorable self, HAVE FUN TOGETHER, and don't make the guy feel you're using him for his wallet. (Perhaps make it a point to always thank him, sincerely, when he treats.)

She doesn't have to have money, but she should know how to handle money. If she makes $100 a week and spends $125 a week it won't work.

There are spenders and there are savers. If a saver gets involved with a spender, there's generally conflict. Especially if the spender is spending all the money made by the other person.

If you've got a job, manage your money, and don't mooch off the guy for his money then it's normally not a problem.

Some guys will do the "Oh I make more money than you" line, but they are jerks. I make more money than my friends, but I don't hold that over them as some kind of way to get power. I understand they can't buy everything. I even chip in and help them out when I can.

So if you're OK with the guy making more and the two of you are compatible financially (saver/spender) then everything should work out.

My personal opinion is the money from both people should be lumped together and then divided equally between a joint account, savings, and two personal accounts. Then all the money is even and there's no issue of one person having more than the other. Granted, this comes after you're married.

that's good you don't make it as a way of holding power. the guy I like makes more money than me but he's not that type either, he's nice, good to me. and I do appreciate how he treats me. I'm a saver. I think he's moderate, but I still have my own pride to make my own money

I don't care about what she does, but I would prefer her to make her own money. I don't want to be paying all her bills.

I'd start feeling uncomfortable if she was making a lot more than me.

We actually prefer it because it means we can feel "useful" and buy you stuff, pay for our dates without help from you, ext... don't sweat it.

As long as she is independent and has enough ambition to not be example working at a checkout counter her entire life, then she's good.
