My boyfriend embarrassed me in front of his friend ?

Please read it, it is really short. I was sitting with my boyfriend and his best friend (Second brother) .. and my boyfriend has this horrible habit of biting the middle of his thumb to the extent that now it has a big ugly bump so I always tell him to stop doing it .. anyway when we were sitting this time with his best friend I got so angry at him and I slapped (pushed ) his hand from his mouth harder and he hit his teeth.. he got really angry and kept saying " what the hell are you doing " and stuff like that ... I got really embarrassed because I didn't mean to hurt him ,I just don't want him to ruin his finger :S .. do you guys think he went over the line ? or he should have been nicer about it ? I kinda hold it inside but I don't wanna bring it up because well.. a whole day passed since then plus that I don't wanna be a drama queen .. so should I forget about it and understand his attitude ? thank you

It's not a BIG deal, but getting so angry wasn't necessary and I understand that it's kind of baffling if that's out-of-character for him. Also, it's probably irritating to him that you keep bugging him about the thumb-biting when it's something that he doesn't care to quit doing. Maybe it's just building up and he lashed out because you were around his friend. Some guys get all in a huff if their girlfriends "nag" them in front of their friends, like they don't want to seem whipped or something (if you can't tell that I'm rolling my eyes as I say this, just know that I am, haha).

If I were you, I'd let the actual specific incident go, but maybe ask him if it bothers him when you try to make him stop doing that. Emphasize that you're not trying to be controlling, you just don't want him to hurt his finger by doing it so much. If he says it doesn't bother him, then you can bring up that day and ask why he got so angry then.

I get that it's kind of iffy to bring it up because it seems like such a minor issue and you don't want to seem like you're looking for drama. But really, this is about communication. I always think it's better to get your feelings out in the open with your partner instead of holding them in just because you don't want to come across as nitpicky. It took me a looong time to learn how to be that unashamed about my feelings.

you slapped him! that was out of line, and YOU embarrassed him. You can't change who he is... look at his habit as "cute". lol. If he wants to stop he'll do it on his own, he doesn't need you slapping his hands.. unless he wants you to as a reminder. You need to tell him YOU are sorry, then hope that he apologies as well... then explain why you did it and hopefully the behavior will stop, or he will at least make some effort not to do it around you..

Yea he was very serious .. that's why I got embarrassed .. Do you think it was an act of degrading ? I try to put myself in his place though and I know I would never respond in such a rude way .. I don't know ..
