What does it mean when a guy walks behind a girl?

I do not know this guy personally but I know him from a few of my college classes. I was in the elevator with this guy and some other people. The guy stood in front of me. The guy was close to the elevator doors when they opened but he just stood there. The other people went out, I went out, and then the guy went out last behind me.

Another time, the guy and I was in the elevator together. He did not say anything. He was close to the doors when the elevator opened but he just stood there. I went out then he followed behind me. What does it mean when a guy walk behind a girl? Although, the guy was close to the elevator doors when they opened and did not go out but walks behind me when I go out, what does that mean?

usually to check out your ass. this guy at work was always telling me to walk in front of him and one time we were walking on the steps together and he was a few paces behind so I stopped and he said no no keep walking
