Guys are not used to being pursued. So it kinda makes us feel good when someone goes out of their way to come after us. Everyone likes attention.
The second thing is because, in society, men are the hunters and women are the animals. If you can get a girl to like you, then you are a skilled male (or hunter). It gives a guy higher perceived status if a girl likes him. Even if its just in his head.
Frankly though, girls do this to, its why a lot of hot girls have attitude problems. They think their sh*t don't stick because they have such inflated egos from all the guys that are chasing after them. Same reason why the one guy who treats the hot girl like sh*t usually gets her, because he appears different and of higher status than her.
i never had a big ego when a girl has crush on me. that because I don't think any girl ever has had a crush on me really. maybe but I have never pursued it. or to shy to anything about it. I don't care how many girls fancy me, I just want the right girl to be with and have a family. then I will be happy. I don't need every girl to fancy to me.

Because as a guy this kind of a thing is rare. I know that if I ever found out that a girl likes me I would grow the biggest head ever
I'd just be happy that someone has a crush on me, and I actually know about. It's not something I'm used to.
I don't have a big ego. It's flattering and it does boost one's ego to know that someone likes you, no matter if you're a guy or a girl.
