He loves coming behind me when were walking and catch me off guard and grabs my neck, I mean he's not hurting me it's in a playful manner. This is dominant behavior , it's about control and it can been seen in many animals when they play fight. Basically he's saying that he's the boss, he's in charge and your under his control, it's about restraint just like they do in bondage sessions and you can see it in some p*rn too. So yes, basically he's trying to dominate you.

I don't think it's particularly healthy in a relationship, for a start the neck isn't exactly a robust area of the body so your very vunerable, but far more than that it's about his attitude to you as an equal and lack of respect to you.

A test for your relationship and how he feels about you is for you to tell him to stop doing it, to stop right away completely and see what happens. You need him to see you as a total equal partner and not a person who is subserviant, this is 2012 and you should expect to be treated as such.

If he doesn't stop you need to get out of this relationship because more than likely this will just be the start of worse things to come.

I don't know, but I've been in a similar thing. My ex boyfriend and his best friend like to sneak up from behind me and either pull my hood up over my head or put me in a choke hold. It's not a bad one but they just like messing with me.
