When a guy says your lips look shiny, is that compliment?

I knew this guy, he was my friend's ex boyfriend, but we were all still friends. But everyone always thought he had a thing for me. He once said to me "Your lips are really shiny." I had lip gloss on but he didn't know that. Is it a compliment or was he just being observant? Or was he being weird?

He's definitely noticing your lips. Which would probably mean he is thinking about kissing you. This guy who I used to had a thing for actually said the same thing. He picked me up to take me to a party and said "You're lips are really shiny.. Its nice... nice lipgloss..."

We ended up kissing later that night. haha

that's such a funny thing to say to a girl haha! he probably meant it as a compliment but it came out odd. I had a guy tell me once that my eyebrows looked pointy lol.

judging just by what you have said, I am led to suggest a follow-up question to ask your friend: when you said my lips are really shiney, did you mean to compliment my feminine appeal and if so, what more would you like to say about my lips?

It does sound a bit odd, but was probably just an awkward compliment, unless you noticed any other strange behavior. Then again, maybe he has a thing for shiny lips, and it was a compliment of the highest order. I wouldn't write him off over it though. All the best.
