I put both because some people do see one worse than the other no matter what, and some see them both just as equally hurtful. If it were me, I'd have to say emotionally is worse. Both are bad, but emotionally would hurt me more.

Emotional cheating is when you go to another man or woman besides your SO and rely on them with your problems. You then become emotionally attached to them. They become your shoulder to lean on and you stop going to your SO and go to them instead.

I think emotional hurts more. I've fallen in love with someone else when I was with my last boyfriend. I never physically cheated on him but I couldn't keep my mind off the other guy and found myself looking for contact constantly. I was a mess... I then decided to break up with my boyfriend and stay single for a while. Which I still am. Never told him I had fallen in love with someone else though, our relationship was already unhealthy.

I think a line for cheating physically is drawn more easily than one for emotional cheating. Also, the compulsion to cheat just physically can be kept in control in my opinion.

It would hurt me more to find my guy being in love with someone else, because you can't control love. It would be easier to get over some guy that couldn't keep his hands off someone.

I think that the physical part of cheating is worse because it is the act of cheating and not just thinking about it. It is just taking it one step further. Sometimes, we can't help what our mind thinks...But we can control what we do with our bodies. Just because you have a fantasy about someone doesn't mean that you are cheating on them... EX : You love your husband but can't help but think that another man is attractive and wonder how it would be to have sex with him... There is nothing wrong with that...But if you take that thought one step further...And actually sleep with him, well then that is even worse because you had fallen through with your thoughts.

i think when someone hurt your feelings you would kill your self because you love him and you didn't except that from him .. or even not just a boyfriend can hurt your feelings even a friend or anyone you care about and that would make some people die for it... soo I choose emotionally ...^__^ because it means breaking your heart ... but when that comes both ok you can kill him too lol .. that would be so bad ... but I think when you say emotionally its full word to explain how much people hurt you.. you can't compare between emotionally and physical ... because both are hurting your emotion

I hate cheaters. I have been cheated on a couple of times in the past, and regardless if it was physical or emotional, it hurt me really bad.

I have asked some married men on why they cheat, and they've said it's because they felt emotionally disconnected with their wives.

So I guess most men start off by cheating emotionally, and then moves on to physical.

Even men who cheat "just for sex", ends up cheating emotionally, by opening up to their sex partner about their problems or what not.

They are both very painful.

I have a similar dilemma. I cannot even think of physical cheating. But a part of me yearns for what you have called "emotional cheating". What should I do?

For example, this may include:

- Chatting with other girls

- Discussing about sex and other stuff with other girls

- Emails, discussion etc, exchanging pictures etc

I am not into all that, but my partner really dislikes my tendency of me chatting with other girls online. (Quite understandably!)

Any cure out there?

I just had to deal with this. Stop chatting with other girls. If it makes her uncomfortable, then you should respect that. My husband was chatting with an ex and I was uncomfortable with it because she was telling him her marriage problems. He didn't respond, but I asked him to just finally cut ties with her, and he did. He told me I am more important than any ex. He'd rather loose her as a friend. If your partner means more to you than the other girls, then there should be no problems.

"Both" probably shouldn't be an option. Obviously cheating both physically and emotionally is worse than one or the other. I think emotional cheating would hurt infinitely more than physical cheating.

Definitely emotional cheating. I'm in the midst of this right now. The guy who I had a thing with on/off for 7 years just got into a relationship and he has nonstop been talking to me about our past (more openly than ever regarding feelings for eachother, our problems etc), flirting, and trying to make me feel better because he claims 'he will still do almost anything to make me happy.' He'll text me randomly and tell me he can't stop thinking about me and the other day on the phone when we were talking about how things are different now because he has a girlfriend he went to the extent to say 'Well what if I broke up with her tomorrow?'...even though I obviously don't like the girl too much I still felt bad because I would be crushed if I were in his girlfriends position. Physical cheating is more often than not just compulsive and a one time thing. Emotional cheating is with the heart and it lingers.

i feel both are hurtful. i`can`t seem to weigh one more than the other. i`ve been cheated on, and I guess those two aspects were inseparable in my case. isn`t leading a girl on to think he didn`t do anything and then finding out, kinda a mix of both...so I think emotional would hurt more, but I chose both

I answered both for my own reason. In my eyes emotional cheating actually the worst, but at the same time cheating physically can be very painful (if you were the one being cheated on). Emotional cheating has to do with feelings.. And if someone you were in love with had feeling for another female, knowing that alone can mess you up, but to physically cheat puts the icing on the cake!

well I took emotional cheating a different kind of meaning to it. Ok... but I still think ... its BAD>... this really shows how much you actually TRUST the person. because if you can't trust you SO... that's when you rely or depend on someonelse... your making your SO look small and petty NOT good enogh to Help you in time of trouble and difficulties.

A relationship is definitely based upon emotional attraction, NOT just physical. you most probably might have heard Guys and gals saying ... that even though they were physically attracted to each other, they had to give up... because of no emotional attachment.

Emotional, definitely. Guys are capable of sleeping with girls that they don't have feelings for, they simply find them attractive. Therefore, the physical cheating would suck, but I'd get over it relatively quickly. But if he actually had feelings for another girl and was sharing with her the emotional things he was supposed to be sharing with me, I'd be completely gutted.

i voted both. I have a zero tolerance for cheating but id be a little more hurt is the person I was dating had feelings for another and just stayed with me than just having a physical relationship.

Sometimes the physical stuff is a compulsion, almost like alcoholism. I wouldn't blame someone quite as much for that, although it would still hurt me.

But being in love with someone else would be much more painful. I couldn't handle that.
